Paola Idrontino launched Papayapie in 2005 with the intention of exploring ways of highlighting and dramatizing the natural silhouette of the body using accessories.
Her inspiration comes from handicraft methods, fabrics, vintage dresses, costumes, jabots and frills.

While growing up in Italy, she developed a fascination for sewing and crafts and began creating things from whatever she could get her hands on.
In 1997, she moved to London and spent more than ten years working in visual art and design, eventually completing her degree at Central St Martins College.

She is passionate about supporting eco-friendly and sustainable design. All Papayapie products are made with recycled materials and vintage finds.
